Why we Love Shopify
Although we use a variety of platforms to create websites for our clients, for Ecommerce we tend to use Shopify, now favoured by over a million businesses, including Gymshark, Huel, Pepsi, Nestle, and Tesla. Shopify currently contributes around £270 billion to global economic activity.
When we speak to established businesses, they regularly highlight the lack of control over their website, often having to wait and pay developers to make changes. We believe your website shouldn't be a black box so using Shopify enables our clients to not only take back control but also simplify processes, which is especially important for first-time or rapid-growth businesses.
Here are our reasons why we love Shopify:
Great user experience
Shopify’s smooth user experience is one of the platform’s top advantages. Users can navigate Shopify with ease, finding what they’re looking for. It is both highly functional with great aesthetic choices - they have spent countless hours honing the best Ecommerce experience.
The benefit of great functionality was shown through our work with Davies Timber, a business with a large catalogue of products, requiring an easy and efficient search performance. The move to Shopify has happily driven a large increase in online sales due to a better customer experience and they now manage their Shopify website themselves.
Mobile friendly
More than ever, people are choosing to use their mobile to browse the internet instead of using a laptop or desktop. The fact that Shopify has fully integrated support for mobile users makes it a notable choice for ECommerce websites, and it definitely makes a difference - A whopping 79% of the traffic to Shopify online stores and 69% of orders come from a mobile.
Zatchels is a perfect example of how mobile use has been incorporated into the function of beautiful products looking great on a mobile leading to higher conversion rates.
Fun to build
Shopify makes building a website fun and hassle-free. It features a built-in drag and drop builder, with the choice to customise colour, font, styles, and layout. Although some development work may be required for more bespoke requirements generally the platform covers most elements and is a joy to use. This also means we are able to train our clients to make changes and update their websites themselves if they wish.
The Shopify dashboard is also comprehensive so all sales, orders and conversion rates can be easily tracked. Our clients at Pioneros who sell handcrafted leather accessories made in Argentina are very content with Shopify’s builder, which makes it a lot easier for them to make changes rather than having to hire a developer.
Scalability
Another benefit to using Shopify for our eCommerce business clients is the room for scalability. It’s important to us that the businesses we work with can develop and become as far-reaching as possible. It’s easy to adjust any online store to sell more products and add new features or pages. We understand that expanding your business and reaching your goals shouldn’t be hindered by your website settings.
If you require even more flexibility and integration as your business and profits grow, there’s also Shopify Plus which is the enterprise version of Shopify suited to larger businesses looking to scale efficiently.
Apps
With over 7,000 apps now available through Shopify, it’s easy to create the right functions for an online shop. From inbuilt reviews and wishlists to marketing tools, packing labels, and social media, Shopify provides so many options for a unique and efficient eCommerce business.
It is estimated that 87% of merchants now use Shopify integrated apps to help manage their businesses. Blushing Cook, an online cake and brownie shop, is an example of a business we built through Shopify which uses a range of booking and delivery options that are run through apps. This was a great addition for these clients due to the delicate time constraints for their perishable product.
Cloud-based updates
Shopify is completely cloud-based and hosted. This means that as businesses expand, there’s no need to upgrade or maintain software or web servers because it’s all done for you. This is a very practical set-up for our clients who don’t have the knowledge or sometimes the desire to deal with this side of their ECommerce shop.
In conclusion
We have been building eCommerce shops through Shopify for over 6 years now and fully recommend this platform to our clients.
If you’re hoping to start or expand your business through Shopify, or know people who do, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
